Books by Ziona (About the Author)

Ziona is a first generation American born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. Her parents were born in Honduras and she identifies as Afro-Latina Americana.

Though Ziona grew up in the struggles of the ghetto parts of Boston, like Mattapan, she had a plan to overcome and persevere away from becoming another statistic of circumstance like many in her community.

The hardships of a mental diagnosis, addiction, street gangs, and trauma were always present. Ziona is a survivor of multiple suicide attempts and has escaped sex-trafficking.

Since and during her youth she has accomplished many things beyond her environmental conflicts. Using her wits and creativity, Ziona molded her talent for creative writing and began sharing her story in her community and now, the nation through documentaries, books, and speaking publicly about her experience. Ziona feels her purpose is to, “Use creativity to persevere through trauma and raise awareness about suicide, mental health, and recovery in the fight against global stigma.” She is a brave voice for those who can relate to her story, but may not have the strength to express it. She hopes to inspire many to share their stories in any way they can, for the benefit of saving a life; we are not alone.
